Like so many of us in the industry, I didn't plan on a career in hospitality. I needed a job, walked into a Holiday Inn in South Plainfield, New Jersey, and never left the industry.

That was over 35 years ago. Since then I've led hotel operations, opened properties from scratch, navigated brand transitions, and worked alongside ownership groups facing real pressure to perform. I've sat in leadership positions. I know what it feels like to be accountable for a team, a P&L, and a guest experience simultaneously.

In 2021, I launched Melton Hospitality Advisors to put that experience directly to work for two groups I care about: hotel owners and management companies who need stronger talent and better performance, and hospitality professionals who deserve honest guidance on their careers. I believe when you invest in both sides — the business and the people powering it — the results follow. Lower turnover, stronger culture, higher service scores, better RevPAR. It's not complicated. It's just what happens when you get the people piece right.

What separates MHA from other consulting firms isn't a framework or a methodology. It's that I've actually done the work. When I sit across from a client or a candidate, I'm drawing on decades of earned experience — not a textbook.

I'm also proud that every MHA engagement gives back. Through our Hire for Good Promise, a portion of every fee supports a nonprofit of our client's choosing — including NAMI Philadelphia, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, The Pathway School, and Laurel House.
